Construction Supervision Consultancy Services for Improvement Up-gradation of roads under NIDA in the state of Assam

The Government of Assam (GOA) has started implementation of a flagship programme named Asom Mala for objectively improvement of SH (State Highways) & MDR (Major District Roads) network of Assam. It will be a long terms umbrella program with projects funded by the State Government and external sources. The road network of Assam is 53,130 km, which includes secondary road network consisting of 2520.7 km of SH and 4311.4 km of MDR. Most road pavements in the SH & MDR network are structurally weak and has poor riding quality requiring reconstruction. The roads also require geometric improvement and widening. PWRD has initiated a flagship program called Asom Mala for improvement and up gradation of SH & MDRs. Presently, 137.5 km of road works has been taken up under NABARD Infrastructure Development Assistance (NIDA).

Consultancy Services For Authority’s Engineer For Improvement Into 2-Lane With Paved Shoulders Of NH-40 Between Shillong To Dawki Section Including Construction Of Dawki Bridge Design Length =63.91 Km (Ch. 0+000 To Ch. 71+520 Of NH-40 & Ch. 0+000 To Ch. 0+900 Of NH-44) (Package-I, II, IV, V) Excluding Pynursla Bypass In Meghalaya Under JICA Loan Assistance (2 Nd Phase) On (EPC) Mode.

The targeted section of NH 40 starts from Shillong to Dawki in the state of Meghalaya with total length of approximately 63.91 km. The study road mainly passes on brow of variegated mountains and alignment of the study road consist of many small horizontal and vertical curves as shown in Figures below. The existing carriageway of all the stretches are varying between Single lane to Intermediate lane. The condition of the pavement is also very poor and at some locations which is not in traffic worthy condition. In addition, these stretches also are in poor condition in the landslide’s areas/sinking zone. The development and updation of these stretches to the two lane will improve their standards and improve connectivity.
The Government of India has applied for financial assistance from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) towards the cost of the proposed North East Road Network Connectivity Improvement Project (Phase-1). The National Highway & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) will be responsible to manage individual subprojects. The NHIDCL, the executing agency of the Borrower, intends to apply a portion of the proceeds of this loan to eligible payments under a contract for Widening to Two lane with Geometric Improvements of Shillong to Dawki section from Km (Ch. 0.000 To Ch. 71.520 of NH-40 & Ch. 0.000 to Ch. 0.900 of NH-44) to 2-lanes with paved shoulder of Shillong to Dawki section of NH-40 in the state of Meghalaya on Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode.
